this past weekend, i was seriously wishing i was in miami attending art basel and viewing the phantom!, a huge black & white striped inflatable sculpture and the latest installation by friends with you - artists on a mission to spread the idea of magic, luck and friendship around the world. i've never been able to attend art basel but i'm going to make a serious effort to go next year - it is without a doubt the most hip & exciting art event in the states each year and i always kick myself that i didn't make it a higher priority once it's over.

during last year's art basel, friends with you presented rainbow city - a 40-piece inflatable art installation sprawled throughout miami's design district addressing the potency of interaction, ritual and play. this year, they are displaying one of their most iconic and powerful inflatable sculptures - the phantom! who "has the power to be in all places at all time... and challenges time and space and can never be contained." like every friends with you print or installation project, the phantom is downright adorable and oozing with kawaii-cuteness & good luck charm.

i really hope to experience the wonder, enchantment, and surrealness of a friends with you installation up close one day. until then, i'm hoping to get my hands on one of their limited edition prints so i can bring the magical cuteness to me.

xoxo
