DIY projects are pretty much my favorite thing ever. so, when i ran across this great tutorial on rookie about making your own detachable collar i was pretty psyched to get started.
i've been playing with the idea of making a detachable collar - à la miu miu - for some time now but never actually got around to doing it. so, a big thanks to marlena of self constructed freak for putting this tutorial together and motivating me to finally make one for myself!
above, you'll see my first detachable collar - i started with a purple polyester shirt i got at a garage sale for $1 and used my gocco to add a small pink star to either side. it's subtle (and kinda difficult to see in these pics) but it's adorable and i love it and it's found its way into more than one of my recent outfits. in this outfit, i'm wearing a vintage dress & belt, vintage nine west platform wedges and large gold hoops.
after owning my gocco for almost 6 years, i only recently started using it on fabric and clothing after finally ordering some fabric ink. and, i've got to say - i'm totally loving it. it's different than printing on paper, and there's a bit of a learning curve with each fabric, but overall i am giddy over the results and possibilities of customizing all sorts of attire.
i'll be sharing more of these projects with you soon!
xoxo
